Engagement Session Proposal Template
In SendScope under Photography, as Engagement Session
An engagement session is rarely bought on its own merits. It is bought because a couple wants save the date images, or because somebody told them to get comfortable in front of a camera before the day that matters.
That changes how it should be quoted. Both packages here are built on hours and locations rather than on a deliverable, because the real variable is how long two people are willing to be photographed, and the second hour is usually where the pictures get good.
It is also the cheapest route into a wedding booking you will ever have. Price it so a couple says yes without deliberating, and if you credit it against a wedding package when they book one, put that in your terms rather than leaving it in a conversation nobody wrote down.

The page your client opens
Not a screenshot. This is the real client page running on an invented deal. Pick a package and press approve to see what your client would see; nothing is sent or charged.
How it gets paid
Deposit, then balance
50% is due when the client approves, and the balance when you mark the work delivered. Both payments happen on the same link the proposal is on.
Card or bank transfer, and you choose which per deal. If you want a package to bill every month instead of once, you set that on the package itself when you build the deal, and the client can cancel it from their own link.
Prices are a starting point in Australian dollars. Change the figures, the inclusions and the number of packages to suit what you sell.
The starting terms
What approving the page records
These sit above the approve button. The client reads them, and approving records that they accepted them.
These terms cover the booking you approve on this page.
- The booking. The deposit shown on this page holds your date and is not refunded if you cancel, because the date is then held for you and turned away from others.
- Payment. The balance is paid before the edited images are delivered.
- What you receive. The hours of coverage and the number of edited images are those described above. Images are edited in my own style. Unedited or RAW files are not included.
- Use of the images. You may use the delivered images for the purpose described above. Commercial use beyond that, including advertising, is quoted separately. I keep copyright and the right to show the work in my portfolio, and will not do so if you ask me in writing not to.
- If plans change. Tell me as early as you can. A date can be moved once, subject to availability, and the deposit moves with it.
- If I cannot attend. If illness or an emergency prevents me attending, I will arrange a replacement photographer where I can, and if that is not possible everything you have paid is refunded.
- On the day. Safe access to the location and the time listed above are needed for the coverage quoted.
Approving this page records that you accepted this scope, this price and these terms.
Starting terms, not legal advice. Read them, change what does not match how you work, and have a lawyer look at them if the work is large enough to warrant it. Your own default terms in Settings replace these automatically.
Before you send it
What to change first
The parts of this template most likely to be wrong for you.
- Whether the fee is credited against a wedding booking, which this does not assume
- Travel, because couples choose locations without thinking about distance
- Your print and licence terms, which vary between photographers more than price does
- The number of outfit changes, which is the hidden driver of how long a session runs
